Hello people!!! The topic that I am going to talk about today is something which you people might think is irrelevant. However as said by many people that, the situations, things, people about which we are less worried have the tendency to later become our biggest obstacle, necessity, happiness and can also become a thing which you might want badly but due to your negligence you lost it.
The topic is: Learn to appreciate others & the Necessity to Appreciate others. You might be thinking who is worried about such a thing? And how can words spoken by us be helpful to others? If I appreciate the other person, they might think that I am being too sweet. Even I used to have questions like these before acknowledging someone. As a result, neither I appreciated someone nor was I appreciated by someone and hence remained unaware of the content, boost, happiness it provides.
Learn To Appreciate Others – Real Life Story
However, a year back I met this beautiful person. She was my roommate, the very first day when she came to our room, I knew that she was different. Our day used to begin with her wishing everyone ‘good morning’ with a wide smile.
The best thing about her was no matter how sad she was but she used to find something good in the other person and would appreciate it. Whether it be my hair, face, my big or small achievements everything was a matter of importance to her and she believed that “if you like something about the other person no matter whatever it be let them know. The smile that you will put on their face will make you happy the whole day.”
The Golde Rule of Appreciation
The thought was small but the meaning it had was really deep. I understood the golden rule that we humans want someone who will assure us that whatever we are doing is right and that there is a meaning for our existence. People are happy that we exist, the fact that we matter and there are people who are affected by our actions has the power to make us feel happy, content, refreshed, the urge to live is awakened and what not. In a year I was able to see the change in myself. The urge to do good, the urge to do things in a more refined way in short, the urge to live life in a larger way was back.
I never thought two kind words from someone can be so powerful that it can change my day, my mood, my approach towards life and this is the reason I thought of sharing this experience of mine with you people.
As Mother Teresa once said
“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
Words are free. They cost you nothing. But what matters is the way you use them. Because words have the power to help, to heal, to hinder, to humiliate to hurt. So, it’s better said to use them wisely.
Appreciation from others not only makes us feel happy, noticeable, valuable but also connects us emotionally with the other person, the bond between both of you gets stronger, the trust factor increases, it makes the other person feel that you understand the struggle that the person has gone through to do the task.
The secret behind a great, successful, loved leader is that they appreciate even the smallest of efforts of their team members because they know appreciation creates enthusiasm and a positive environment.
Always remember “Efforts that are appreciated are always repeated.”
Ways to Appreciate Others
– Appreciating someone is not a difficult job.
However, do keep in mind that your appreciation should be sincere and honest, don’t try to flatter people. Daily appreciation with a smiling face can be worth a magic stick in your daily life. Now coming to the ways
- Use of phrases like ‘you are doing a great job’, ‘ keep up the good work’, your work has impressed me a lot’, and many more can be really helpful.
- Appreciate people based on their personalities and core values (honesty, punctuality, positivity etc.). It makes them feel proud of themselves and they feel that are being acknowledged for the things they stand for.
- Whenever you appreciate someone try to include their names. This makes them feel honored and tends to remember it their whole life.
These are a few ways but you can do better. You don’t want people like me to teach you how to make others smile. Appreciating someone is all about adding value to their life. I repeat a phrase which I read somewhere but I don’t remember exactly where
” Your true worth is determined by how much more value you can give than you are paid for.”
Life is all about how much more value you can add to someone’s life. Once you start appreciating others you will start to have a sense of gratitude because that’s when you will realize that many people don’t have a roof to sleep under let alone having a good maid, many people don’t have food to eat and almost all people are a survivor of very bad and filthy relationships.
So, concluding it, I would like to say that be kind to others. Start by appreciating your mother for the tasty food that she makes for you, the way she cares for you, the way she always remains by your side. Thank your siblings for adding flavors to your life, appreciate your friends to make you the person that you are. Begin with changing things around your small world and then take it forward to the wider picture as said by someone;
‘charity begins at home’
